Morstow is built into the side of cliffs and, although it has a nearby natural port, very few ships ever dock there. The members of the covenant have little or nothing to do with the mundanes. Their position is remote and innocuous enough to rarely make them cause for attention. Ceolmund runs the covenant affairs and it is said that the Magi take almost no interest in anything but their escoteric studies. Fortunately Ceolmund commands the respect of the covenants grogs and morale is reasonable.
It is believed that the cliff caves which house the covenant were once the sleeping place of a dragon, but no real evidence has ever come to light of its existance outside local legend. The covenant draws in a fair supply of vis each year, but always deal generously for Mentem vis as all three magi have interests in that form. There is a small visitors library, particularly good for Mentem, but the charge for its use is decided on a case by case basis.
The covenant is surrounded by a magical mist that can confuse and disorientate travellers along the cliffs. Magical water creatures are said to frequent the shore lines, including a mermaid who is believed to have claimed the lives of several grogs.
There is next to no politics within the covenant, most of the decisions being made by Ceolmund. Council apparently only meets once a year to discuss general issues, where Lazerus tends to do most of the talking. Lazerus is a Mentem master, possibly the best in the Tribunal, he deals with many powerful spirits, summoning and controlling ghosts. He is renown for a spell he developed some twenty years ago which, it was claimed, could be used to summon devils. An investigation of the ritual provided no evidence that this was the case, but Lazerus agreed not to teach the spell to anyone else. Closwyth also uses Mentem a great deal, and she is obsessed with changing peoples' personalities and challenging the limitations of Hermetic magic by altering true nature. She has an exceptional magical ability, which is non-Hermetic, which she is trying to fully explore. Krekaranius seeks the enigma through the study of mind, and is interested in what happens to the mind upon death. The separation of spirit and soul is his primary research interest, and many of his magical experiments involve suspending people at the point of death so he can watch what happens. Most of the grogs avoid him. The three Magi have an understanding when it comes to the use of magical resources and there appears to be little argument.
Only Lazerus involves himself in Hermetic politics, and then mainly as a bystander. He does upon occasion champion some obscure causes, and generally supports the non-Latin houses in any dispute. It is well-known that he dislikes Nostrius, and he never misses an opportunity to bait him if it can be safely done. The other Magi rarely attend tribunal meetings, and even then take little part in debate.
