A quiet summer covenant set in the heart of a magical forest, Lear Valley enjoys a beneficial co-existance with the local mundanes. There are few grogs, many of them are not armed, and none are heavy troops. There is no castellan or autocrat and the atmosphere is more like a small village than a covenant. The morale here is excellent, but there have been few conflicts so it is uncertain how the grogs would respond in more troubled times.
Although the covenant is poor in mundane terms it has an excellent supply of vis, harvested from various sites within the forest and surrounding hills. Their laboratories are little more than tents but they have opened their meagre library to any visiting magus at no cost.
There is a faerie regio within the forest, which is often frequented by Lorrimir. Some very rare and magical plants grow in its vicinity and are collected by the covenant. Many of the animals are said to be able to speak, but it is unclear whether this is a magical phenomena or simply faerie influence.
There is no obvious politics at the covenant, indeed every member of the covenant (including the grogs and servants) meet regularly to discuss what must be done. Raeriana spends weeks at a time within the forest usually in the shape of her heart beast; a white doe. Fera, who is also an Animal master, gathers news from the animals of the forest, and spends much of her time in the form of animals. Jan specialises in Herbam, while Jolyon is a Terram magus. Lorrimir has made a number of friends among the local faeries and lives for seasons at a time among them, so much so that her apparent age is far younger than she really is. Gwyth received little Hermetic training, but has the exceptional ability to shape a person's mind and emotions with music, and spends the majority of her time learning how to play new instruments and composing new work. There is no friction among the Magi, who appear to co-operate without the need for formal council.
Lear Valley usually attend Tribunals, but often abstains even on important votes. They are considered very neutral, and appear to successfully resist the influence of the various factions within Stonehenge. They are, however, cautious towards Lexor, and it is believed that they would not support him for Praeco (even if they only abstained). Garius once claimed that Lear Valley was the most boring place in christendom, and many Magi might agree with his analysis.
