Background

A quiet summer covenant set in the heart of a magical forest among the hills and valleys of the Lake District. The atmosphere is more like a small village than a covenant. There are a few stone buildings that have been built in recent years; mainly cottages for each of the magi. In the centre of the glade is a stone and wooden 'Great Hall' which acts as a centre for the community and meeting place.

Lear Valley enjoys a beneficial co-existance with the local mundanes. Although established many years ago it took a long time for the covenant to progress to summer. There is no obvious politics at the covenant, indeed every member of the covenant (including the grogs and servants) meet regularly to discuss what must be done. There are few grogs, many of them are not armed, and none are heavy troops. The morale here is excellent, but there have been few conflicts so it is uncertain how the grogs would respond in more troubled times.

There is a faerie regio within the forest where some very rare and magical plants can be collected. Many of the animals are said to be able to speak, but it is unclear whether this is a magical phenomena or simply faerie influence. Although the covenant is poor in mundane terms it has an excellent supply of vis, harvested from various sites within the forest and surrounding hills.

Major attributes

Jolyon has pushed the covenant into a period of rapid growth and development, and has also encouraged more political activity within the Tribunal. One of the largest covenants in the Tribunal, there is no doubt that it could become quite a political force if the archimagus can overcome the covenant's previous isolationist attitude to politics.

Visitors' library

The covenant maintains free access to their growing library to any visiting magus.
