Cad Gadu is nearly as old as Blackthorn, but is far more chaotic even at the best of times - its atmosphere is always energetic. More accessable that Blackthorn, Cad Gadu has built up reasonable relations with the mundanes and other covenants. Cyrwin is considered a hero by his men and morale is excellent. It is said that he once slew a giant, but it is difficult to separate facts from legend.
Cad Gadu is by far the richest covenant in the tribunal in terms of vis, and rivals many older covenants on the continent. Drawing sometimes over a queen of vis each year from a wide variety of sites, even many of the apprentices are allowed to use vis in their studies. The covenant always has an abundance of Herbam vis, often presenting allies with a few pawns as gifts once in a while. By contrast, the library has been neglected and is poor compared to covenants of a similar age.
The centre of the covenant is dominated by a huge, sentient, oak tree, said to be some 600 years old. The tree produces large silvery acorns each year, each containing a pawn of herbam vis. Kara often spends many days in conversation with the tree, an activity that the flambaeu Garius has often scorned.
Politics is usually animated. Lexor and Garius are Amicus to one another, but this doesn't stop them arguing at council. The other magi usually leave them to it, but both Lexor and Garius are prone to bullying them into taking sides. Cyrwin prefers not to attend council meetings and is generally briefed by Lexor afterwards. Of the other magi; Jordael is known to have visions and make prophecies, Kara and Sylvania spend much of their time in a nearby faerie forest, Blodwyn tavels among the mundanes as a healer and midwife and contributes to the covenant's good relations, and Stassius is usually away delivering messages to covenants in the south and west of the tribunal. Tomas used to reside outside any covenant, but he managed to incur the anger of Orlania at Blywyddan and has had to turn to Cad Gadu for sanctuary. His presence there is said to be a bone of contention between Orlania and Garius.
Lexor is an elementalist and many of his spells rival the destructive arts of the Flambaeu. He relishes his authoity as Archimagus and Primus, and would gladly add Praeco to his belt. Needless to say he is unpopular with the other Primi, particularly the Tremere. Any attempt to become Praeco would be resisted by many of the magi of Latin houses within the tribunal.
